History

This home has a long history of service.  It was built in the late 1800's, then purchased by the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church to fulfill their vision for an "old people's home."

For many years, it was the Sunshine Home before being moved to its current location, where the Spencers lived for thirty years.  They raised their family of eight children here--four birth and four adopted--and many happy memories have been made here.

Now the Sunshine Home Retirement Community has purchased it again, and there's plenty of space for relaxing, including the front porch, balcony, and back deck.

You can enjoy a meal in Buhler or nearby Hutchinson, only ten miles away.

There's so much to do in our area.  Buhler hosts Grand Staff Thrift Boutique,  The Mustard Seed Coffee Shop and Deli, Pam's Sugar Shack, and Town Hall Antiques, to name a few.

And Hutchinson draws visitors from around the world to the Kansas Cosmosphere and the Underground Salt Mines, both worth a visit. Or check out the shows at the historical Fox Theatre.

Maybe you'd rather just stay put.  The b n b is here to serve your needs, and we pray that your visit is blessed with rest, relaxation, recreation, and reconnection with those you love.

We have a HUGE announcement:

After much soul-searching and prayer, Tracy and I have sold the house.  It's a new season in our lives since we now spend 4 - 6 months of the year in eSwatini, Africa.  That means the time we have at home is very precious, and we very much need to spend it with our loved ones.

The great news is that the Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community has purchased it and will continue to use it as a bed and breakfast!
Woo hoo!

This is such a cool thing, because as you see to the left, the house used to be the Sunshine Home.  So the historical piece of this is truly amazing.

I trust those of you who have been our guests through the years will continue to stay here.

They have some fantastic ideas for other ways to make your stay memorable, including 3 gourmet breakfasts.  You'll be very
well-cared for!

Thank you for making this venture such a tremendous blessing to our hearts.  Many of you have become friends for life, and many have also become sponsors of our dear Swazi children.

We'll still be in the area, so plan to visit us when you can!

Now off to this new season in our lives!  Blessings to you all!
