Shepherd's Care Home
Sipete, eSwatini

DOB: October 29, 1998

College Student

Nontobeko's story has been a tragic one for as long as she can remember. When her father learned that her mother was pregnant, he disappeared.

Her mom had a difficult pregnancy, because she was already ill.  Her mother was also hearing impaired, so Nontobeko felt like a burden her whole life.

She loved school because there she could shine. But her mom couldn't always afford to send her. GSM was a huge answer to her prayers when it was time to attend high school.

By then her mother was extremely jealous of her and hated having a daughter that age; it made her feel old in front of the many boyfriends who came and went from their house. She began beating Nontobeko severely. In 2018 she also purchased poison from the sangoma (witch doctor) to kill Nontobeko.

Thankfully the girl escaped to a neighbor's house, and she ended up safely placed at Shepherd's Care.

She's a wonderful big sister to the younger children in the home. We're so thankful to be part of her rescue and appreciate everyone who is giving financially so she can have a brighter future.
