The boutique operates best when we have 4 – 8 trained volunteers present at all times.
Jobs vary, so although you don’t need to have all of these skill sets, your natural abilities will help determine what you’d do:
*Sense of fashion/style
*Organizational skills
*Love for order
*People person
*Good at google searches
*Attention to detail
*Willing to get a job done, whatever it takes
*Able to motivate/lead
*Able to lift
* Able to write legibly
* Sewing/Repair work
Jobs include:
* Sorting donations
* Cleaning items (washing dishes, laundry)
* Hanging/Steaming/Ironing/Tagging clothes
* Googling prices
* Welcoming customers and answering questions
* Running the cash register
* Setting up displays
* Communicating our mission to customers
* Making simple repairs to otherwise good items
* Painting furniture, etc., to make it look “shabby chic,” etc.
*Cleaning (sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, etc.)
* Organizing work rooms & storage areas
* Picking up donations and bringing them to the store in Buhler. We don’t currently do this, but if we had volunteers willing, we could add it. This would especially be an option when someone is donating larger pieces like gently-used or antique furniture. Consider the size of your vehicle since sometimes it could be a large amount to haul. (Possibly a truck and trailer.) Also, consider your strength for lifting.
We need to fill shifts every day Tues. – Sat.:
10:00 AM – 1:30 PM, and 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Some volunteers help on a regular weekly basis, while others come on a less structured time frame. We’re the most short-staffed on Fridays and Saturdays, but you’re welcome any day we’re open.
How do you get started?
Contact a manager at 620-543-5298 OR go into the boutique and ask to be scheduled.
You may fill out a Volunteer Form before you arrive or fill one out when you come.
Thank you in advance!
