Shepherd's Care Children Who Still Need Sponsors

It costs about $3,000 annually for the younger children to live in the home and about $4,000 for a high school student to live there. This provides housing/utilities, food and clean water, regular doctor and dentist visits, medications, school fees/uniforms, clothing/shoes, and toiletries.

Most of the children in Shepherd’s Care have more than one sponsor to meet their needs.

A few of these girls, including two who were rescued in March, 2023, still need to be fully sponsored.

If you click on the photo of the children below, you’ll see a short biography with the amount still unpledged.  You may make a one-time donation to help a child or ask to be added to the monthly sponsorship by clicking on the link below.

Sithandwa

Sithwandwa has had a rough life, having been abandoned by her mother at a young age and passed to various family members. Unfortunately, not all of them were trustworthy. She suffered abuse, followed by threats if she told anyone. But she found the courage to do so, even though it means she will have to testify in court. We're so thankful we were able to rescue her and welcome her to a place of safety and love in March, 2023. She transferred to the village high school where her new highschool-aged “sisters” attend. God is so good! Thank you for considering being part of what He is doing in this precious girl’s life.June 11, 2009Shepherd's Care Home, High School StudentTotal annual need: $4,000 Pledged: $3,000 Need for 2024: $1,000/yr or $83.33/mo....

Noncedo

Noncedo and her little sister came to Shepherd’s Care Homes in January of 2025, soon after we arrived in the country. They were in desperate need of their basic needs being met, because they weren’t even given ample food to survive. Their mother is disabled, so she depended on her brother to help care for her children. Unfortunately, he was unwilling to continue to provide for their needs. Eswatini has no funding to help disabled people survive, so their mother begged social welfare to help her children. I questioned providing food so they could stay on the homestead, but their uncle doesn’t want that. The girls will be able to visit their mother during every spring break while she’s living. Thank you for considering being part of their story.July 18, 2016Shepherd's Care HomeTotal annual need: $3,000 Pledged: $1,500 Need for 2025: $1,500/yr or $125/mo....

Khontinkhosi

Khontinkhosi and her younger sister were abandoned by their mother because of their father’s abusive behaviors. Since the mom had no place to go, and abandonment is so common in the culture, she left her girls with their dad. But besides being violent, he was also neglectful, leaving them alone without food for long periods of time. Charges have now been filed against him. Like many suffering children, Khontinkhosi wanted to test her new caregivers--would they also abandon or reject or neglect her. But she found see that at SC she’s loved with a godly love that’s bigger than anything she’s known. Thank you for considering being part of her healing journey.November 29, 2010Shepherd's Care HomeTotal annual need: $4,000 Pledged: $0 Need for 2025: $4000/yr or $333/mo....

Simphiwe and Siphiwe

Simphiwe (left in picture) more shy. Siphiwe (right in picture) very outgoing. These girls have faced so much grief and abuse. Their mother passed away when they were 7 years old, and they've lived with various relatives. But their father abused them in the worst way, but no one in the family reported him. Finally, social welfare got involved, and they joined the Shepherd's Care family in Dec. 2025, right before they turned 12. Both girls are thriving now that they have a safe home, plenty of food, medical care, and consistent schooling. Our hearts are warmed because we learned that they had never heard of Jesus before joining us--but now they are enamored by His love! We expect that before long, they will invite the King of kings to come into their hearts and lives.December 12, 2013Shepherd's Care HomeTotal annual need: $3,000 each Pledged: $0 Need for 2025: $3,000 each/yr or $250 each/mo....

Thabile

Thabile and her sister Melo were abandoned by their mother and abused/neglected horribly by their father. They came to SC 7 years ago. She has a beautiful voice and serves on the praise team at church, as well as in the youth choir. She’s active in the youth group, as well. Thabile is in 7th grade, which is the final year in elementary school. She’s always been an outstanding student, but this year she seems distracted. She’ll meet some of her bio family during spring break, and it seems the past is weighing on her. But we know the Healer of souls is holding her near and dear. And her houseparents are walking with her through this challenging season. Nomvuyo

It’s hard to imagine that this precious little girl could be harmed in any way. But she has new and old wounds—physically and emotionally—from repeated abuse by a family member. Nomvuyo’s sister, four years older than her, was also being abused by relatives. We’re so thankful we had space for both of them at Shepherd’s Care Homes. Both girls are seeing a Christian therapist and are under a doctor’s care. Okuhle

Okuhle is a precious 6 year old girl who has suffered from gross neglect of daily needs being met and horrendous abuse. A placement with a relative was short-lived. We're incredibly thankful that our social worker is giving us the opportunity to welcome Okuhle into a loving home environment where her every need will be abundantly met and she'll be introduced to who Jesus is. Since she hasn't received any schooling, we'll see if she fits best in our Little Lambs Preschool when school starts in January, or if she's ready to attempt first grade. The severity of her abuse means she'll need ongoing Christian therapy for quite awhile, which means her financial  needs will be higher than usual for a child her age.August 19, 2013Shepherd's Care HomeTotal annual need: $3,000 Pledged: $600 /yr Need for 2025: $2,400/yr or $200/mo....
